What inspired you to create a guide specifically for this leader? I've been a huge fan of control playstyles in the One Piece TCG, so I enjoyed playing the Lucci deck straight from release. Having gotten top 8 finishes in OP07, OP08 and OP09, I feel I have alot of information to share. Alot of people seem to percieve Lucci (at least pre-banlist) as an easy to pilot deck, but I really think there is alot of depth to both playing the leader as well as deckbuilding a good Lucci deck going into an event. I love sharing information and since I love the deck so much, I want people to do well with him and not throw away games that were very winnable. The deck is also notorious for having a few very bad matchups, but if you know your gameplan better than your opponent they are not unwinnable by any means, which makes it interesting to write about.
Who would benefit the most from this guide- Beginners, seasoned players, or both?
I would say beginners will definitely benefit MOST from this guide, but a certain level of fundamental knowledge is still required to get the most out of it. Seasoned players can also still benefit from the information in the guide, because I go over alot of tips and tricks that you can now learn by just reading it, instead of having to figure it all out yourself by playtesting.
Without spoiling to much, what makes this leader fun or unique to play?
I really feel that every turn is a puzzle about how to clear your opponents board, all the while setting up removal for your opponents next turn play. Having your trash as a second resource is also super interesting to me and really broadens the scope of what you can do in a turn!
Do you offer coaching or deck reviews for this leader as well?
I do offer coaching sessions as well, for a very, very reasonable price should I add!
What is the hardest part about learning this deck and do you cover it in your guide?
I think the hardest part about playing Lucci is anticipating what your opponents is going to do, and setting up to answer that multiple turns in advance. My guide goes into relatively specific turn breakdowns in all the meta matchups, so it's definitely covered. Secondary, I think Lucci has to be built to combat a certain meta by including certain tech cards, and my guide also goes over every single tech option you can run and against what matchups those cards are viable, so it also assists you into building your own list if you see a sudden spike in popularity of a certain leader.
Where can readers purchase the guide and how much does it cost? https://metafy.gg/guides/view/op10-rob-lucci-CC9LLg47FhX and it costs 25 dollars!
Will you update (or is it still accurate) the guide when the upcoming set drops?
The guide will be updated as long as Lucci remains a (semi)-viable strategy. The EB02 update should be made in the following weeks and I plan to update it when OP11 drops as well. Now is actually a pretty good time to pick it up, since it already covers all the current matchups, so you can get familiar with those. Then when EB02 drops I feel Lucci will probably be the second best deck and you just need to get familiar with the GP Luffy matchup, which I will be covering as well.
Any Exciting results or tournament finishes using this deck you'd like to share?
Top 4 at Hannover Regionals Runner-up at Bandai Cardfest Utrecht 3rd place at the World Championship Finals in Tokyo.
Would you recommend the deck in a ChinoizeCup?
Since the ChinoizeCups are going to be EB02 from now on, Lucci is an amazing anti-meta pick that has a good matchup spread into rogue decks as well. So YES.
One more fun question: If you could ban and unban one card, what cards would you pick?
I would ban Gum Gum Giant. Just the design of that card breaks the game. I would unban Enies Lobby. Moria can stay where it is, sine other decks also benefit from it existing and it limits game design, but Enies Lobby would just boost Lucci which I would enjoy hahaha.
