On Fleche’s (https://x.com/FlecheNoireHS) recommendation for a top-tier Teach guide, I reached out to Broken Ball. If Fleche is recommending a guide, it’s gotta be a good one, right? Let’s find out! What inspired you to create a guide specifically for this leader? I wanted to share all of my knowledge on Teach, after my success in Paris Regional
Who would benefit the most from this guide- Beginners, seasoned players, or both?
Anyone who wants more knowledge on Teach in the current metagame will benefit from this article. I have sections that will help beginners pick up Teach and get into the correct mindset to play this list. But while I was writing I wanted to make sure this guide was worth buying for someone like me 3 weeks ago, so an experienced player that was undecided on what to play for their next regional.
Without spoiling to much, what makes this leader fun or unique to play?
In my opinion consistency is what separates Teach from other decks, out of my 16 games none of them were lost because of an "Unplayable hand". Teach's worst hands are still playable, compared to most other decks which tend to drop games even in really favoured match ups.
Do you offer coaching or deck reviews for this leader as well?
If you are interested in 1on1 coaching you can contact on me on twitter and we can discuss this.
What is the hardest part about learning this deck and do you cover it in your guide? The hardest part about Teach is managing resources. There is a lot of optimization you can do with Teach which I believe is the difference between topping or bubbling out of swiss. The guide covers what resources you should value, how you should manage them and how to look for the spots where you can optimize them. But the best teacher for this skill is pratice!
Where can readers purchase the guide and how much does it cost?
For 7 $ you can find my guide on metafy -- https://metafy.gg/guides/view/op10-blackbeard-top-16-paris-regional-list-7SsXiAzGYlM -- . I believe if you read this guide and play a few dozens of games with the correct mentality, you will have all the tools to top a tournament!
Will you update (or is it still accurate) the guide when the upcoming set drops?
If I will still play Teach in the upcoming sets, I will look to update the match ups.
The article's original intention was to have a limited scope and mainly cover the op10 metagame, but I believe the final product holds up as a great resource whether you want to learn Teach or are trying to master it.
Any Exciting results or tournament finishes using this deck you'd like to share?
I am notoriously bad at getting tickets for One Piece event ahah.
Paris regionals is my first big event since Utretch and I managed to top 16 after an X-1 swiss run!
Would you recommend the deck in a ChinoizeCup?
I am taking the deck to ChinoizeCup today, let's find out if Teach still holds up in EB02!
One more fun question: If you could ban and unban one card, what cards would you pick?
I would ban 8c Kid, the card isn't busted but I don't like how it polarizes green.
Half of the decks I love (GY Law and RY Sabo) are kept down by this card and have limited ways to answer it. The other half of decks I like Teach, Garp trivialiaze it.
This isn't really unique to me, a lot of decks either trivialiaze Kid or can't beat it.
I am not sure if a card like this should be the face of a color, probably green players themselves would benefit if the colour was less polarised.
I honestly wouldn't unban anything right now.
Great Eruption is a card I really like but to justify an unban you would need either ban Brook or Lucci leader. Sakazuki Is too risky to unban as any card could tip him over the edge again.
